If someone were to ask me about my interests, music is right up there next to travel in terms of importance. I knew early on that sports are fun, but music is something I can enjoy for a lifetime. Whether playing drums, guitar, or the radio there is always music in my house! My musical tastes were heavily influenced when I was a kid by my cousin Mike. As I grew, I have discovered many great genres and artists. With Musical Musings, I’ll take a look at music I like, some of it new and some of it old. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover something new!

Michael Franti and Spearhead- All People Released July 30, 2013. In a very long career, Franti has covered lots of types of sounds. He clearly has found his voice on this album. Some of the songs would sound at home on the dance floor and while they are enjoyable, the best songs for me are the ones that are more reflective such as On and On and Wherever You Are (When I see your smile/I know all the while/I’m home). A couple of the songs will sound familiar like I’m Alive (Sound of Sunshine) and Do it for the love (Hey, Hey, Hey). The album closes out with an acoustic arrangement of Life is Better With You (Some days are better than other days/but these days life is better with you). Clearly there is emotion in Franti’s music, hopefully he’s successful in sharing this with his fans.
